The Lay Worker Program at Aenon Bible College is designed to empower and equip faithful believers to serve effectively within their local churches and communities. This program provides foundational biblical knowledge, practical ministry skills, and spiritual development for those who may not hold formal ministry titles but are called to serve in the Kingdom of God.
Lay workers play a vital role in the life of the church, and this program ensures they are prepared, confident, and effective in their service, whether in teaching, outreach, administration, or other ministry capacities.
Affiliation and Accountability
Aenon Bible College operates under the covering and guidelines of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. (PAW). Persons certified through this program are expected to represent the standards of holiness, sound doctrine, and ministerial integrity upheld by Aenon Bible College and PAW.
Program Components
The Lay Worker Certification Program includes the following key components:
● Provide biblical and theological foundations for everyday ministry.
● Equip lay workers with essential skills for serving in the church and community.
● Foster spiritual growth, confidence, and a servant’s heart
● Enhance effectiveness in ministry roles such as teaching, helping, outreach, and support.
❖ The Lay Worker Certification is for all new individuals entering this area of ministry in the local church and affiliated councils of the PAW, and those who are presently serving in ministries but are “NOT “called to preach.
Examples of a Lay-Worker:
● Pastoral care providers (visit the sick, elderly, and jail….)
● Leads small prayer groups.
● Deacon
● Teacher in Sunday School or children’s ministry
● Outreach organizer
● Mission worker (coordinates food drives, charity events...)
● Worship or choir director.
● Technical and Media directors
● Auxiliary/Department leaders (Youth, Men, Women...)
● Altar Workers
Course Requirements from Aenon Bible College:
● Understanding People
● Your Role in Ministry
● Additional specialized training in the area of ministry is required for the specialized areas (ex, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Outreach Organizer, etc.).
❖ Non-Preachers who are presently serving in ministries and holding local papers (fellowship papers) “Will Not” be required to take the required courses but are “Required “to complete the annual professional development.
Program Requirements
To successfully complete the Lay Worker Certification Program, participants must:
● Be a committed believer.
● Appointed by the local pastor.
● Support the vision of the local church.
● Serve in the capacities for which they were appointed.
● After receiving the Lay Worker Certification, the following year, the annual Professional Development is required.
Course Framework:
● Specific time for enrollment (a) Spring and (b) Winter
● A two-course video or in-person
● Timeframe of 1 to 2 months for completion
