New pastors in the Apostolic Pentecostal tradition often do not have systematic or strategically
oriented approaches to assuming the pastorate of the church. As result,
transition, onboarding, and orientation matters are often awkward,
challenging and lack an orderly process to the leadership of the church.
This webinar will highlight elective strategies from the interview to the first
100 days as pastor. Students will depart this webinar with a strategic plan
to allow the spirit of the Lord to be maximized in the church setting.
Course Description: As Pentecostal preachers and leaders grow in their ministry, a survey seminar in homiletics is central to understanding and delivering a powerful sermon to the people of God. This seminar will serve as an introduction to homiletics, which essentially focuses on the art of preaching or writing a sermon. A reference to hermeneutics will be provided, which analyzes the systematic interpretation of a text from the Bible. This webinar will be taught by Dr. Kenyatta Gilbert, Dean of the Divinity School of Howard University, in Washington, DC. The class will take place on Friday, February 7, 2025; from 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. @ The Divinity School at Howard University. Students can attend an in-person session or join via Zoom. Please see registration to choose either in-person or Zoom.
The ministerial leader has
a human side as well. Pastors and leaders are confronted with the same
challenges that their congregates face on a daily basis. This seminar will
concentrate on providing a contextual understanding of how leaders and
pastors should manage their social emotional components of their lives,
while focusing on serving the congregation and the community. Licensed and credentialed professionals, who are Apostolic Pentecostal, will offer suggestions and recommendations on how our leaders can manage emotional, psychological, historical family dynamics and related
impactful and life changing factors impacting their leadership in the church.
A Practicum of Lessons Learned from the Apostolic Pentecostal Perspective:
Female preachers continue to evolve in the Apostolic Pentecostal tradition and female leaders and preachers require a unique perspective of the ministry as shared by female pastors that have paved the way for a new generation of female preachers in the organization. This Continuing Apostolic Credit seminar will focus on lived experience, sound advice, ministerial protocols unique to female preachers, and powerful lessons learned from being a female evangelist who have preached in all fifty states and international locations.
This survey webinar will provide an overview of internal and external factors impacting the development of a budget for the individual church leader. If will focus on aligning the membership
capacity with budgetary implications as aligned to the vision of the Pastor for the church. Individuals engaged in this seminar will be able to identify their major cost, expenditures, and cyclical spending trends and capacity to develop a fiscal plan focused on the strategic plan of the leader.
The backbone of an effective and engaged church is centered on the
qualities, skills and competences of auxiliary leadership. This webinar
will examine the leadership strategies to create, manage, and implement effective auxiliary leadership within the church, region, and national levels. Developing effective leadership skills to advance the vision of the Pastor, regional leaders and Diocesans will be shared. Each student will exit the webinar with a written outline of strategies to improve their leadership in church auxiliaries.
Students must be a Pastor, District Elder, Suffragan Bishop or Bishop to enroll in this class.
The 21st century Apostolic Pentecostal pastor has multiple roles to play as a leader of the flock and has responsibility for developing strategic plans, financial oversight, and managing the organization. A Chief Executive Officer has significant tasks that are similar to that of a pastor, who must develop a collective vision for the church and provide leadership for the vision, develop resources, and is responsible for collaborating and leading a board of trustees, deacons and business decisions. Ultimately, the Pastor is responsible for the performance of the organization. The Pastor as Chief Executive Officer class will be a 3-semester hour class and comprise approximately 45 hours of contact, assignments, projects and class activities.
(This class is limited to the first fifteen students).
This class will be offered on Monday evenings.
Projected Course Dates: January 27th – May 2nd, 2025
The fee structure for this special academic offering for 3-hour semester hours is $600.00. ($200 per semester hour)
